4th of July Activities & American Fruit Flag

The 4th of July is two days away and I don’t know about you but I was searching Pinterest for a cute 4th of July activity to do with my daughter. I’m usually a little behind the curve on holiday craft ideas, the holidays just always seem to sneak up on me, ya know? This year we did manage to get in a little treat flag in that my daughter had a lot of fun making. Things are always better when food is involved. Take a look at our American flag fruit skewers and check out the 4th of July Activity round up for a few other ideas!

Supplies Needed:

  • Raspberries (or other red fruits)
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Blueberries (or other darker blue/black fruits…mmm like black raspberries)
  • Wood skewers

You could also arrange the fruit and marshmallows on a plate without the skewers but have you ever noticed that skewers just make things more fun sometimes?! 🤪 Not to mention it is great for practicing those fine motor skills for younger kids.

4th of July Activity Round Up!

Perler Bead Crafts: Perler beads offer endless amounts of creativity and I find that my daughter regains interest in them about every 6 months (she’s 10 at the time of editing this post). They’re great for making holiday inspired crafts and especially great for making magnets. She likes giving them away as gifts and is always trying to start up a business selling them.

Ideas for 4th of July perler bead projects:

  • American flag headband-make a flag with the perler beads and then glue it to a simple headband.
  • Earrings-get creative with these! Stars, flags, fireworks, etc.
  • Magnets-the ideas are endless here! Check out 5 Little Monsters blog for perler bead ideas

Popsicle Stick Stars: This project can be for kids and moms, which makes it a lot of fun. I think crafts that my daughter and I can each do are the best because it is fun for me and fun for her. She can feel independent and I can do my own without overpowering her creativity with my perfectionism! It’s a win-win. You could use these as wall hanging decorations or something to hang on a window.

I especially like multistep projects like this one because it encourages a lot of new skills. With this one, you have to paint the sticks, clean up and put away paint while they dry, and then glue them together. Even with simple projects like this there are a lot of skills being practiced.

Handprint Flag T-Shirt: Aren’t these flag t-shirts the most adorable?! A great 4th of July activity for the whole family! If you’re going to a 4th of July BBQ this weekend these shirts would be really cute to show up in. I love a good matchy matchy holiday shirt, don’t you? Not to mention, your kiddos would have fun making these because who doesn’t love to play in the paint.

To change it up a little bit you could do this cute project on a canvas bag so you can keep your kids’ tiny handprints a little bit longer.

I can’t wait to come up with some cute 4th of July activities for next year.
