Moon Activities from Space Camp that are Fun & Easy
This week was Space Camp for us and we did a lot of activities that kept our campers busy and having fun learning a bit about space. The first day of camp was about the moon so we chose two activities to do! One of the activities was an orbiting project so the kids could see how the moon orbits the Earth and how they both orbit the sun. The next activity was the classic Oreo phases of the moon! That one never gets old. Our campers were between 5 and 10 and these activities were fun for all! The younger kids needed a little extra help so the older…

Plan Out Your Homestead With These Simple Steps
Starting a homestead has been a dream brewing for quite a while. Yet, it is a venture I am really just beginning to jump into. I have had so many ideas swirling around in my head. Chickens, gardens, bees, and more. Can there be more? ALWAYS! I have dabbled with growing small gardens, poured over books, and researched so many things. I finally hit a point where I was like, “ENOUGH DABBLING LISA!!! It is time to jump in!” And just l like that – I jumped! (wink) There really are so many things that go into the thought process and planning of starting this venture. And as much as I…

4th of July Activities & American Fruit Flag
The 4th of July is two days away and I don’t know about you but I am searching Pinterest for a cute 4th of July activity to do with my daughter around this type of holiday. Usually, I’m a little behind the curve but not this time (sort of)!! We made our little American Fruit Flag a few days early! It was really simple and fast but brought huge smiles to Olivia’s face so totally worth it. We could have probably fit in a couple more 4th of July activities but…better luck next year! All you need for the fruit flag is:• Raspberries• Mini marshmallows• Blueberries• Wood skewers You could…

Homemade Hot Pockets your Whole Family will Love!
When I told my girls we were going to start eating less processed foods and get away from foods wrapped in plastics one of the biggest upsets was the thought that we would never have hot pockets as a simple snack again! YUP… it was devastating news to all of us! For them, they loved the way they tasted. For me, I loved the convenience of a quick snack. I searched all over the internet and found some really awesome ideas but had not ventured out to try them. One day while making tortillas I had an idea pop in my head and VIOLA!!! Our version of homemade Hot Pockets…

Beach Wine Bottle Decor
I was so excited to get into my creative side a few days ago and make these adorable beach-themed wine bottle decorations. They are so cute and super easy to make. And the best part might be the first step — you must drink the wine before you can do the upcycling craft! 😆 If you’re into long explanations (and you want to dive into my amazing personality 😉), read on for how I did my wine bottle decor! If you’re into the short and sweet version scroll to the bottle for a quick list. I’m a picky wine drinker but I finally found this watermelon flavored wine that I…

Freedom Within Limits — The Idea of Rights, Responsibilities, & Freedoms in Montessori
A common misconception about Montessori classrooms is that students get to run free. That they get to do WhAtEvEr they want to do in the classroom. Many people think that Montessori = Freedom, but it’s not that simple. I am not disagreeing, there is a LOT of freedom in the Montessori classroom at home. The real Montessori way of thinking is FREEDOM within LIMITS. This has been a constant topic in our class discussions lately as the students learn what they can control in the classroom with their choices and actions. It is a conversation that can easily be had in the home too! I am currently a Montessori Lower Elementary…

Make Your Own Scrabble Tiles
These Scrabble tiles are a HUGE HIT in my local area. My parents and I worked together to make hundreds of scrabble tiles in the last couple of years for families and friends. I LOVE seeing these personalized tiles on their walls. They brought so many smiles to the people we made them for. Here’s exactly how we did it! If you have any questions about how we make them or anything that I haven’t mentioned please comment and ask! Prep or Buy the Tiles Our tiles are 3.5 x 3.5 so we used 1x4s and cut them to 3.5 inches. You can also buy tiles on amazon HERE if…
