Mason Jar Cookie Recipes are the Perfect Gift
The oatmeal cookie mason jar gift is the perfect homemade present for any occasion, combining convenience and a personal touch that everyone will love. I first made mason jar cookie and brownie gifts last year and gave them to friends and family. It was an easy and inexpensive gift that everyone liked (I think 😆 ). Recently I have been trying to give people less “stuff” which is difficult because I really like giving gifts!
Making mason jar cookie gifts are a happy medium for me because I can still make and give a gift, but it is something the family will use and enjoy. It doesn’t take up space on a shelf or end up in a donation box a few months later. It’s a bonus if they return the mason jar so I can reuse it for next year or for one of my favorite canning recipes. Then all they have to show for the gift are the cookies in their bellies and the time spent with their kids making them. It’s a win-win.

How to Make Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies in a Mason Jar
To make your mason jar cookies, make sure your jars are clean and dry to start. Layer ingredients into the jars starting with the 1 cup flour, 1/2 tsp baking soda, and 1/2 tsp salt. Using a spoon or a small measuring cup, pack down the flour. Packing down the ingredients will create a cleaner look and will ensure all the ingredients fit!
Add 2/3 cup brown sugar, 1/3 cup sugar, 1 1/2 cup oats, and 1 cup chocolate chips and push down after each ingredient is added.
When you’re ready to bake the oatmeal cookies, preheat the oven to 375º and remove the chocolate chips with a spoon, set aside. Dump all other dry ingredients into a bowl and combine.
Add 1/2 cup room temperature butter, 1 egg, and 2 tsp vanilla. Mix until everything is incorporated. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Using a small scoop drop cookie dough balls onto a greased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake for 8-10 minutes and then let cool for 2 minutes before removing them from the cookie sheet. This recipe should make about 24 cookies.
Packaging Your Gift + Free Printable Tag
Dressing up your oatmeal cookie mason jar gift can be super simple. For these ones I just used some plain twine, white cardstock, and this printable tag that I made on Canva. You could use some more festive twine, change up the color of your cardstock, or use a prettier ribbon! You could also cut a circle piece of wrapping paper and put it under the ring to add some color to the top of your jar. However you choose, the cookies will be delicious!
